Professionals working to prevent these attacks from occurring or preparing to respond to such attacks refer to these as CBRN (pronounced “see-burn”) threats. CBRN is an acronym that stands for chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear. Another variation is CBRNE (pronounced “see-burn-ee”; the “E” stands for “explosives”). ese acronyms, commonly used worldwide, refer to deliberate acts of terrorism aimed at inicting great physical harm, panic, or societal disruption. You may see the acronym used in combinations such as CBRNE attacks, CBRNE events, CBRNE training courses, etc.
