ABSTRACT

R adiation injury is rare, although cases do occasionally occur in occupational settings. In the United States, the Radiation Emergency Assistance Center/Training Site (REAC/TS), headquartered in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, has been providing expert medical advice and consultation on the treatment of radiation injury for more than 30 years. In addition, REAC/ TS provides a capability 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to respond anywhere in the world where medical assistance for treating radiation victims is needed.
