ABSTRACT

Creating a compact, reliable source of terahertz (THz) radiation is one of the most challenging problems in contemporary applied physics (Lee and Wanke, 2007). Despite the fact that THz technology is at the boundaries of microwave and photonic technologies, it is quite underdeveloped compared to the achievements in the microwave or the photonic technology. ere are very few commercially available instruments for the THz frequency region, and most of them lack the precision required to perform accurate measurements. ere are also no miniaturized and low-cost THz sources. One of the latest trends in THz technology (Dragoman and Dragoman, 2004a) is to use single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) as building blocks of novel high-frequency devices.
