ABSTRACT

If a battery is simply a device that converts the chemical energy of its own stored components into electrical energy (i.e., produces electrons) via reduction/oxidation reactions, then a nanobattery is the same thing, only smaller. Within this simpli ed argument, however, lie the questions that make this new technology, the “nanobattery,” both so promising and so elusive. How small? What components? Which reactions? How to make it? And most importantly, why? Why develop nanobattery technology?
