Alternatively, photonic launching can be avoided. ere is evidence in the literature that a transistor-like electronic device such as the CMOS-driven tunnel junction [10] integrated on the plasmonic waveguide input end can excite the SPP, while a related electronic device senses the SPP arriving at the waveguide’s output end. It is known that a <100 nm silicon MOSFET can, at room temperature, detect radiation whose frequency is around 1 THz [11]. is suggests that THz SPPs could be detected by a similar transistor.
