ABSTRACT

Breast cancer remains the most frequently diagnosed nonskin cancer in women in the United States. According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), an estimated 232,670 new cases of breast cancers are expected to occur among women in the United States during 2014. Approximately 40,000 women are anticipated to die from the disease in the same year (ACS 2014). Early detection is known to be the key to successful treatment of breast cancer. e combination of early detection and improvements in available treatment options has led to 2%–3.2% decline per year in mortality rates among women in recent years.
