ABSTRACT
Related to health physics is the field of medical physics. Medical physics is an applied branch of physics concerned with the application of the concepts and methods of physics to the diagnosis and treatment of human disease, utilizing ionizing radiation. It is allied with medical electronics, bioengineering, and health physics as pronounced by the American Association of Physicists in Medicine.11 In a clinical setting, the medical physicist serves as a consultant to the physician regarding therapeutic and diagnostic use of ionizing radiation, and research and teaching are often part of the job responsibilities, in addition to clinical duties.
