ABSTRACT
There are unique interactions between cluster ion beams and surfaces that occur only with cluster ion beams and not with conventional ion beams. In this section, fundamental cluster ion beam interactions that were recognized during initial experimental studies and from molecular dynamics simulations are shown. Interactions of gas cluster ion beams (GCIBs) created by supersonic expansion of gas materials and relatively small polyatomic cluster ion beams are described.
