ABSTRACT
A new class of optical fibre has emerged in recent years: the microstructured fibre [1, 2]. In these fibres
the hole-to-hole spacing is typically labelled L and d is the hole diameter. Light can be guided using
either one or two quite different mechanisms in a microstructured fibre.
