ABSTRACT
FULL-APERTURE TRANSFER HOLOGRAMS A full-aperture transfer hologram uses an image formed by the whole area of the master hologram, just as a reection transfer does, and thus has vertical as well as horizontal parallax. However, this nal image carries a number of restrictions when replayed using white light. Like a lens, a hologram suers from chromatic aberration. e “focal length” of a hologram is greater for green light than for red light and greater still for blue light. us the green and blue images are reconstructed larger and farther away from the hologram than the red image. is is so for both real and virtual images. Only when the image is wholly in the plane of the hologram do the images coincide for all wavelengths, and even then they are not quite the same size.
