ABSTRACT
History-taking in the presence of the acute abdomen, which is almost synonymous with ‘acute abdominal pain’, takes on an even greater importance. As already mentioned, time may be of the essence and, depending on where the patient is in the world, access to advanced investigative techniques may be limited at best, or completely unavailable at worst.
