ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we anticipate questions readers might have, acknowledging and addressing those questions here. Borrowing from Delgado and Stefancic (2012), we recognize that critique and questions are valuable parts of the work we do as scholars and, importantly, that social justice research is improved by critique, discussion, and clear answers. This chapter reflects the kinds of questions we know readers already have: “It’s so daunting that injustice is institutionalized and systemic. What can I—just one person—even do about it?” and the kinds of critiques we suspect will be waged against this project: “But is social justice really technical communication?” We develop meaningful answers to those questions that coalitions can use as they build their own strategies for addressing oppression. Throughout the book, we will point readers to this chapter, treating it as a form of hypertext reference that can help answer queries along the way.
