ABSTRACT

Clockwork behavior is predictable, but a complex situation fails to operate in clockwork manner; the whole is more than the sum of the parts. As such, complex information requires a fundamental transformation to form an integrated synthesis of information that fits the situational context. A complex information communication can be considered as a triangle with the sides formed by: interface, content, and person, with all three embedded in the situation. Within the overlap multiple factors exert a strong influence. Boundaries set the parameters for how the information should be transformed. Emergent properties arise from interactions within the information relationships. Feedback loops drive the stability (or instability) through the information relationships.
