ABSTRACT
A diagnosis of Stage 4 Breast Cancer at age 34 sparked sadness and also motivation for this breast cancer fundraiser and advocate. This essay discusses the conflicting emotions experienced around living with and undergoing treatment for breast cancer as well as success in fundraising. As a top Jimmy Fund fundraiser and “walk hero” two years in a row who received a “First Time Captain of the Year” award, Cabral has also blogged about her experiences and has raised over $100,000 with her team, Cabral’s Crusaders.
