ABSTRACT
The concluding chapter brings the main arguments of this book together by first presenting the decentred and labyrinthine nature of governance practices and state power, and then by showing the processes through which the state as a seemingly unitary actor is imagined. Finally, it concludes by addressing the implications of the study for our understanding of the concept of state, the centre-periphery divide, and the state in Africa.
