ABSTRACT
A statement is no more than a documentary record made by a person, which contains details of their direct knowledge and experience of a particular incident. Yet despite the simplicity of this description it is an essential document in the work of an Environmental Health Officer. It is vital because it is via statements that the Environmental Health Officer will both be informed and will inform others of the evidence collected for, and perhaps ultimately to be given in, a court of law.
