ABSTRACT

Although much attention has been given to study of the postmenopause and the options in hormone replacement treatment (i.e. estrogens and progestins), relatively less attention has been paid to the activity of endogenous or exogenous androgens in women. However, middle-age in women is characterized by a combination of menopause and adrenopause that can both participate in creating the so-called androgen-deficiency syndrome.
