ABSTRACT

As with air burners, there are many different oxy-fuel burner designs available to end users. Each different design was developed to overcome a problem or achieve a certain goal, depending on the application. These could include various flame shapes, low NOx production, or dual fuel capability. Understanding the attributes of an oxy-fuel burner and overlaying them with the requirements of the process and the needs of the end user are key to selecting the proper burner for a particular application. In many situations, seeking advice from the burner manufacturers, who have significant design and hands-on experience with each burner type, is the best way to ensure that the selected burner will perform satisfactorily in the application.
