ABSTRACT

Fluid dynamics is one of the most important areas of engineering science. Over the past 100 years, research into the science of ßuid dynamics has grown at an exponential rate. Today, there are hundreds of papers published and dozens of conferences and symposia held every year devoted to the subject. Fluid dynamics is a broad subject because it is an important tool used in many engineering Þelds, for example, turbulence, acoustics, and aerodynamics. There are many good textbooks on the subject; those by Panton,

White,

Fox and McDonald,

Vennard and Street,

Hinze,

Schlichting,

and Hughes and Brighton

are a few examples.
