ABSTRACT

The change in hormone levels that occurs during the climacteric, particularly the decline in estrogen, can cause acute menopausal symptoms.

Symptoms directly or indirectly related to the menopause transition include:

(1) Vasomotor symptoms (hot flushes and night sweats); (2) Insomnia; (3) Mood changes, psychological symptoms; (4) Sexual dysfunction; (5) Impaired concentration and memory; (6) Urogenital symptoms.
