ABSTRACT
Different cancer types have varying etiologies that may or may not have an endocrine basis. Many ‘healthy women have genetic polymorphisms that predispose them to an increased risk of developing cancer. Pro-oncologic factors with aging may be the primary cause of a given cancer, with HRT a coincidental event. Hormone therapy has been shown to initiate (endometrial) or promote (breast) various cancers, and is associated with the reduction in risk of colon cancers. It has an uncertain relationship to other cancers.
