ABSTRACT
The growing demands for endoscopy services within the UK combined with the limited number of trained endoscopists, has resulted in the development of skills mix in this area. Flexible sigmoidoscopy is now routinely carried out by endoscopy nurses or colorectal nurse practitioners and there are a number of specialist courses to support this development. There is currently no training program available for radiographers wishing to perform endoscopic procedures. This resulted in the local development of a radiographer-focused flexible sigmoidoscopy training program.
