ABSTRACT
Definition of pain-An unpleasant sensory or emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage. The aim of analgesia prescribing should be the abolishment of pain within the A&E Department once it has been
identified (i.e. often before X-ray) and commencement of pain relief procedures for subsequent patient management in other departments. Regular analgesic prescribing is much preferred to a PRN approach.
