ABSTRACT
Musculoskeletal calf pain is common. The causes are usually benign. History and clinical examination will usually exclude a deep vein thrombosis (DVT). If the diagnosis of DVT cannot be excluded clinically then the patient should be assumed to have one until proven otherwise and investigated and treated as appropriate.
