ABSTRACT

The neuropathic (neurogenic) bladder may be defined simply as one whose function is disturbed by neurological disease affecting the nerve supply of the bladder. An aura of perceived mystery surrounds the neuropathic bladder, but as with all seemingly complex problems the fundamentals of the neuropathic bladder can be broken down into a few simple rules. In reality, the management of the neuro-pathic bladder is relatively straightforward, though this should not be taken to imply that treatment is necessarily always successful.
