ABSTRACT
The usual presentation is of localized pain over the fracture site. The pain is worse on weight bearing. X-rays are usually normal initially but re-X-ray after 10-14 days will often reveal the characteristic periosteal reaction around the healing fracture site. Isotope bone scan will show most fractures within 3 days of the injury.
