ABSTRACT
In addition to fractures there is a range of soft tissue problems that may present acutely to the A&E department. Most, but not all, are associated with an acute injury. Reaching a diagnosis in such cases rests upon a detailed history and clinical examination. These conditions may be classified into two broad groups, those affecting the rotator cuff and those affecting the tendon of the long head of biceps.
