“Organizational position determines the perspective from which the engineer looks at the process s/he is engaged in. The current assignment in turn directs the focus of thinking. The focus can be changed as necessary. The engineer can scan and zoom into or out of the focus areas of the view. It can be thought that the engineer looks at the task environment and the object of design through a restricted ‘window’, ... defines the current task within these frames and the task definition embraces an appropriate degree of detailed knowledge.” [380].
