ABSTRACT
Humans are the most important operators of design processes, but they always interact with the other operators. Since the industrial revolution, with division of labor as its guiding principle, there has been a need to define ‘what is to be made’ in a complete and unambiguous way, so that others can make it. The communication medium from designing to manufacturing traditionally was engineering drawings plus other documents, now partly replaced by computer digital files.
