ABSTRACT

Polymer Foam Boards – rigid insulation panels with high effect of energy conservation – can be widely used to insulate almost any part of individual home and general building, from roofs and/or walls down to foundation. They provide good thermal resistance and sometimes add structural strength to elements, like wood and steel studs. In 1976, shipping volume of individual home insulation material, area basis, was 19% for Polymer Foam Board, and 71% for Glass Wool, while in 2006, it was 35% for Polymer Foam Board, and 50% for glass wool in Japan. As Fig. 1 shows, Polymer Foam Insulation Products significantly increased in these 30 years.1
