ABSTRACT

Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) is a promising technology to reduce atmospheric releases of CO2 and thus mitigate climate change. It consists in capturing CO2 from large industrial or energy-related sources, transporting and injecting it into the subsurface for long term storage (IPCC, 2005). This future industry will benefit from transfer of standard practices from other industrial sectors, for instance Asset Integrity Management, to ensure that all assets will perform optimally, during both the storage operations and the lifetime of the storage.
