ABSTRACT

Delaminations are one of the most severe defects associated with multilayered laminated composite structures. They may be caused by imperfections such as air entrapment and insufficient resin during fabrication or by impact and fatigue loads during services. Delamination may lead to the severe degradation of the mechanical behavior of structures due to the loss of structural integrity. The detection of delaminations and the study of their effects on the mechanical behavior of delaminated composite structures become important practical issues.
