ABSTRACT

Also, the project is located 4.2 km north of the San Andres fault. Recently the USGS has predicted that this portion of the fault has a 59% chance of a magnitude 6.7 or larger earthquake within the next 30 years. Water retaining structures are designed for hydrodynamic loads and lateral seismic earth pressures. Results of the side-by-side seismic analyses are presented. The potential for seismically induced settlement of the soil was also encountered. The method used for mitigating this soil settlement is presented.
