ABSTRACT

Since the use of FRP for confinement on RC concrete is relatively new, theoretical work in this area is limited to the models that already existed. The present paper develops fundamental knowledge of FRP external confinement on hollow circular and square high strengthRC columnswith different shapes of hole under concentric loading, so that the different behavior can be identified. Specifically, this paper shows the effect of the same net cross section areas on both circular and square hollow RC columns under axial concentric loading.
