ABSTRACT
The sensitivity of a structure to different types of defects and errors is not the same for steel, concrete and timber structures. Some questionable topics in structural design area dealt with the conformity of a design model to the realistic behaviour of system and the variation of property values have been studied in this paper related to the safety assurance problem of timber structures particularly.
