ABSTRACT

Serviceability and durability of a concrete building require studies of the environmental exposure and loading conditions, in order to decide the best maintenance methods to protect the structural members. Kuwait is located in an arid desert area which has hotdry weather in the inland areas and hot-humid-salty weather in the coastal areas. Dusty winds blow aggressive salts which precipitate on the concrete buildings especially at high humidity in the coastal structures, as is the case with the Kuwait National Assembly.
