ABSTRACT
In 2004, a great earthquake occurred in the middle part of the Niigata Prefecture. The magnitude of the earthquake was 6.8, and the occurrence of strong aftershocks continued for one month. Fast landslide occurred at many sites in this area. These events have shown the importance of developing methods for estimating slope stability during or after an earthquake.
