ABSTRACT
The lateral haunches were installed in a second stage, rigidly fixed to the box with a cast-in-place junction, and simply supported on a longitudinal saddle provided on the lining of the tunnel. The air tightness is here ensured by means of continuous packing, which allows longitudinal movement to take place. Waterstops sealing were also provided in correspondence of the cast in place junction between lateral haunces and box structure.
