ABSTRACT
March 1931, Leningrad: the laboratory of Simon Zalmanovich Roginskii at the Institute of Chemical Physics, recently founded as part of the budding Physical Technical Institute. I had been working there for more than six months already, having graduated from the Physics and Mechanics Department of the Polytechnic Institute.
