ABSTRACT
Chronic pancreatitis is an often painful inflammatory condition of the pancreas characterized by progressive fibrosis that leads to irreversible destruction of exocrine and endocrine tissue and results eventually in exocrine and endocrine insufficiency. There is considerable heterogeneity in its presentation and natural history.
