ABSTRACT

At the most fundamental level, the process of job accommodation deals with the relationship between the physical demands of the task and the capabilities of the worker. This can be thought of as the “fit” between the human and his or her work environment. A poor fit can cause unnecessary stress and can result in traumatic or cumulative injuries/ illnesses. This fit may be pictured as the overlap between the capabilities of the individual and the requirements of the task as shown in Figure 20.1.
