ABSTRACT
The aims of this chapter are to focus on the control of nitrogen metabolism, to emphasize how nitrogen metabolism is integrated with other aspects of metabolism and cellular physiology, and to highlight selected important new results. Most of the individual anabolic and catabolic pathways are not described here because they can easily be found elsewhere ( Jones and Fink, 1982; Hinnebusch, 1992; Magasanik, 1992; KEGG, 2003).
