ABSTRACT

As the cost of PV systems continues to decrease, utility interactive systems are becoming more economically viable. Furthermore, increases in consumer awareness correspond to a willingness to pay a premium price for clean electrical energy. This feedback loop, coupled with the increased demand for standalone systems, has resulted in a healthy demand for PV system components. And this increased demand has enabled PV module and balance of system (BOS) component manufacturers to scale up manufacturing facilities to take advantage of economies of scale to further reduce system costs.
