ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: It is presented a study of alteration features in a 20th century church in A Coruña (NW Spain) where diverse materials were applied. The observational study detected the presence of diverse stains (that have been sampled and studied by scanning electron microscopy) and erosive processes affecting granite slabs and rendered walls. The association of the erosion in the granite stones and alkaline sulphate efflorescences suggest the contribution of mortars. There are is also indications of contribution of metallic materials and atmospheric pollution for some of the stains observed.
