ABSTRACT
While this book provides a practical approach to the applications of CMR, the present and concluding chapter contains a concise description of the editors’ view of the future of CMR. We believe that CMR is actually early in its evolution, and that there are several impending developments that will lead to the evolution of CMR becoming the noninvasive diagnostic modality of choice for cardiovascular imaging and potentially for the guidance of cardiovascular interventions. Major advances in hardware, software, and contrast agents, will lead to several new and improved applications. Indeed, CMR will become the ‘‘one-stop shop’’ for diagnostic imaging.
