ABSTRACT

Musculo-skeletal diseases make up 15% of the primary care physician’s workload every year. Calculating an average list of 2,500 per general practitioner this represents 375 consultations each year. Over 20,000,000 people have some complaint affecting the musculo-skeletal system each year in the United Kingdom, with a total cost of musculoskeletal disease to the National Health Service estimated at 8% of the budget.
