ABSTRACT

An association between psoriasis and arthritis was mentioned in the early part of the nineteenth century. However, there was no uniform agreement as to whether the arthropathy was part of the spectrum of rheumatoid arthritis or a separate entity. It is only in the past two or three decades that psoriatic arthropathy has been recognized as a separate disorder from rheumatoid arthritis. One of the problems in defining psoriatic arthropathy is whether it may exist without the skin lesions.
