ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: The traditional way to conduct research about the acceptance level of risks ignores the social influence on individuals. To overcome the shortcomings, we try to use Multi-Agent System. In this paper, we start with the results of the questionnaire answered by residents in Nanjing about the awareness of flood, and build four social models with different characters. With Multi-Agent Technology, the scene is simulated where individuals hazards lead to casualties and residents may have communication after that. The result shows: the acceptance level of risks is not only determined by individuals themselves, but also influenced much by the social factors. Specifically, on one hand, communication among residents can lower the acceptance level, on the other hand, compared to whom live in safe societies, residents in societies vulnerable to hazards which can lead casualties have lower acceptance level. The application of Multi-Agent Technology offers new thought in researched on acceptance level of risks.
