ABSTRACT
Advanced industrial nations enjoy a convenient and affluent lifestyle through the production and consumption of various products and services, using a vast amount of resources extracted from the natural environment. However, incidental to such production and consumption, large amounts of waste gas, fluid, and other products are generated, which result in waste solids and eventually return to the natural environment such as the atmosphere, hydrosphere, and geosphere.
