ABSTRACT

However, experience of pore pressure measurement during ball penetration tests is still very limited and further research is required to develop soil behavioural classification charts, interpret consolidation parameters from dissipation tests and develop relationships with geotechnical parameters other than shear strength. This paper presents a piezoball that measures the pore pressure simultaneously at both the equator and the tip of the penetrometer. Results of testing with this piezoball are examined with particular emphasis on the trends of the excess pore water pressure.
